In My Mailbox (4)

In My Mailbox is a weekly meme hosted by Kristi @ The Story Siren.

I told myself I wouldn't buy any more books until I've read the ones I already have. But alas, I gave into temptation and purchased another book. Only one, and it came highly recommended by, well, just about everyone..

City of Bones by Cassandra Clare
Summary (goodreads): When fifteen-year-old Clary Fray heads out to the Pandemonium Club in New York City, she hardly expects to witness a murder -- much less a murder committed by three teenagers covered with strange tattoos and brandishing bizarre weapons. Then the body disappears into thin air. It's hard to call the police when the murderers are invisible to everyone else and when there is nothing -- not even a smear of blood -- to show that a boy has died. Or was he a boy?

This is Clary's first meeting with the Shadowhunters, warriors dedicated to ridding the earth of demons. It's also her first encounter with Jace, a Shadowhunter who looks a little like an angel and acts a lot like a jerk. Within twenty-four hours Clary is pulled into Jace's world with a vengeance, when her mother disappears and Clary herself is attacked by a demon. But why would demons be interested in ordinary mundanes like Clary and her mother? And how did Clary suddenly get the Sight? The Shadowhunters would like to know. . . .

Phew, that was a long summary. So, what did you get in your mailbox this week? Feel free to comment on what I received, and also leave the links to your IMMs below and I'll check them out!

  4. I have the same problem when I tell myself not to get any new books. I can never stick to it.

I know how popular The Mortal Instruments series is, so perhaps you should prepare yourself for a new addiction? :-)

  7. I've never read any Cassandra Clare... but I keep seeing the books around, so maybe I'll have to give them a try. (Love your IMM logo. I'm on the lookout for a good mailbox to photograph. Haha.)

  14. Curious to see what you think of this! I enjoyed the series, but I didn't *love* it for some reason. Maybe because I read through them so fast, I don't know. I'm hoping to read City of Fallen Angels soon, fingers crossed it will win me over!

    I hope you enjoy! :)

    Also, thanks for following!

TG- There are so many good books out there, I find it hard to resist. It doesn’t help when the store I work in discounts their books :).. A new addiction hey? I’m ready for it!
    Thanks for following!

Mia- Fairly small, with only 1 book. But I’m expecting big things from this book. Thanks for stopping by.

  23. It is so hard not to buy any books, that has been my new goal lately. Only buy books that contribute to my series that I already have or if I'm going to a signing I can buy those books. So far I am doing pretty good, but I do slip all the time :)

    ReplyDelete
  24. Gabby- Thanks Gabby, I'll be sure to post a review when I do.

Kristina- Oh, that's a good idea. I have 3 series that I’m reading at the moment, but trying to only by the next 1 for each when I need it. Although being slightly pedantic about matching covers kind of forces me to by them all at once :P.
